Supreme Court Rules On Ihedioha vs Uzodinma Judgment Review Today

Nigeria’s Supreme Court in Abuja has heard the application for review of its January 14, 2020 judgment, which removed Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as Imo State Governor and declared Hope Uzodinma as the valid winner of the last governorship election in the state.

That bizarre ruling attracted global condemnation and deafening calls for review both at home and from the Diaspora. After much hullabaloo, the Supreme Court accepted their fallibility and agreed on a review and it was slated for March 2, 2020. But when the case came up on the said date with all its heightened anxiety, the Supreme Court adjourned till today.

Expectedly, a seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, said the court’s ruling on the application filed by Ihedioha would be delivered at 3.0p.m. on Tuesday. The CJN led the panel when the court in its judgement, which was delivered on January 14, 2020 that sacked Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor and declared Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the true winner of March 9, 2020 governorship election in Imo State.
